Job Description:
Texoma Medical Center is hiring a Family Medicine Physician to
join our GME Program. This position will report to the Program
Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program, and will serve
as clinical instructor of Family Medicine. The physician will
assist in the didactic activities, curriculum, mentoring for the
residency program, and complete administrative tasks as requested
by the Program Director. You will also assist in ensuring program
compliance with the policies and regulations of the hospital and
regulatory agencies through supervision of the residents during
clinical activity. Typical Duties and Responsibilities of the Core
Faculty include:
- Devote 60% of his or her time, at least 24 hours per week, or
1200 hours per year, to the instruction, administration, scholarly
activity and patient care within the Family Medicine Residency
Program at Texoma Medical Center.
- Provide residents and medical students with appropriate
opportunities to manage cases, guiding residents and students in
their analysis of and prospective treatment of patients, especially
to obstetric patients.
- Provide continuity of care through supervision and direct
patient care at the residency continuity clinic. Model patient care
within the residency continuity clinic by maintaining a panel of
patients independent of residency instruction.
- Participate in teaching the didactic curriculum, resident
clinics, and conferences. Instruction must be evidence-based and
directed toward ensuring resident competency.
- Assist Program Director with curriculum development to ensure
the appropriate instruction for learners.
- Participate in activities pertinent to resident and faculty
scholarly activity that satisfy ACGME requirements.
- Be a role model for residents by demonstrating composure,
citizenship, cooperative spirit, high morals, ethics and
professionalism.
- Complete and review resident evaluations on a timely basis in
accordance with ACGME and Texoma Medical Center policies, including
written, semi-annual and annual evaluations. Assist the Program
Director in the review and verification of resident completion of
all program requirements for graduation.
- Participate in regular meetings of the program and assigned
subcommittees. Actively participate in other medical education
activities pertinent to the residency program as requested by the
Program Director.
- Actively participate in annual recruiting including but not
limited to reviewing candidate applications, interviewing
candidates, follow up communication with candidates and assistance
in rank decisions and discussions.
- Report to the Program Director resident or medical student
issues or challenges. Provide recommendations to remedy as
appropriate. Assist in remediation as requested by the Program
Director.
- Follow ACGME and Medical Education Department policy and
guidelines; take an active role in disciplinary investigations,
hearings and actions involving residents in a timely fashion.
- Attend scheduled faculty development as reasonably requested by
the Program Director and/or the DIO.Ideal candidates will be Board
certified or eligible from an appropriate specialty Board, having
completed a AOA or ACGME approved internship and residency, and
will obtain privileges to admit patients at Texoma Medical Center,
including obstetric patients. An active Texas license is highly
preferred. Additional qualifications include an Obstetrics
fellowship or additional post-residency experience with prenatal
care, delivery management, and postnatal care; point of care
ultrasound or medication-assisted treatment of opioid abuse.Texoma
Medical Center is a 333-bed regional medical center with a staff of
over 200 physicians. TMC s main campus is located in Denison,
Texas, approximately one hour north of the Dallas/Fort Worth
Metroplex and just south of the Texas/Oklahoma border. In addition,
Texoma Medical center operates a number of locations throughout the
