About the Role: The RN PRN Emergency Department at Palo Pinto General Hospital plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients experiencing urgent and emergent health conditions. This position requires the ability to rapidly assess patient needs, prioritize care, and implement appropriate interventions in a fast-paced environment. The nurse will collaborate closely with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and effective treatment. Additionally, the role involves educating patients and their families about health conditions and post-treatment care to promote recovery and prevent complications. Ultimately, the RN will contribute to the hospital’s mission of providing exceptional emergency medical services that improve patient outcomes and community health. Minimum Qualifications: Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas. Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly those used in emergency care. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced environments. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in an emergency department or acute care setting preferred but not mandatory. Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification. Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Responsibilities: Perform comprehensive patient assessments upon arrival to the emergency department, including vital signs, medical history, and presenting symptoms. Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians, adhering to established protocols and safety standards. Monitor patient status continuously, recognizing changes in condition and responding promptly to emergencies or deterioration. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs. Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly in electronic health records to ensure continuity and legal compliance. Provide emotional support and clear communication to patients and their families during stressful and critical situations. Maintain readiness to respond to a wide range of emergency scenarios, including trauma, cardiac events, and acute illnesses. Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical skills and departmental performance. Skills: The RN Emergency Department utilizes clinical skills daily to assess and manage patients with diverse and complex medical conditions, ensuring timely and accurate interventions. Strong communication skills are essential for coordinating care with physicians, specialists, and support staff, as well as for educating patients and families. Critical thinking and decision-making abilities enable the nurse to prioritize care effectively and respond to rapidly changing situations. Proficiency with electronic health records supports accurate documentation and information sharing across the care team. Additionally, emotional resilience and empathy are vital for providing compassionate care in a high-stress emergency setting. This is a PRN position that works as needed on the day shift-6:45 AM-6:45 PM. This is a PRN position that will work the level of hours per their commitment. This position is not eligible for benefits. The PRN position is an hourly position that is eligible for overtime and shift differentials, if applicable.
