Job Description:
Description Position Summary The Assistant HR Director supports
the Human Resources Director in coordinating and administering key
HR functions to ensure Ameristate Bank maintains a strong,
compliant, and people-centered workplace. This role assists with
payroll administration, employee relations, onboarding, benefits
support, and compliance with federal and state employment laws. The
ideal candidate is passionate about supporting employees, eager to
learn, and able to adapt to evolving HR needs in a highly regulated
banking environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Payroll
Support • Assist in the preparation, review, and processing of
payroll in accordance with wage and hour regulations and internal
policy. • Help track employee timekeeping, PTO usage, and payroll
changes (new hires, terminations, promotions, deductions, etc.). •
Support payroll audits, reconciliations, and documentation to
ensure accuracy and compliance. • Coordinate with Finance and
external payroll vendors (if applicable) to resolve payroll issues
timely and discreetly. Human Resources Operations • Support
recruitment efforts including posting jobs, screening applications,
coordinating interviews, and communicating with candidates. •
Assist with onboarding, orientation, and new-hire documentation,
ensuring completion of required employment paperwork. • Help
maintain accurate employee records and confidential HR files,
ensuring compliance with record retention requirements. • Provide
support for benefits administration including enrollments, changes,
and general employee questions. Compliance & Policy Support •
Assist in ensuring HR practices and documentation remain compliant
with applicable federal and state laws (i.e., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO,
OSHA, and applicable state labor regulations). • Support HR
Director in maintaining and updating employee handbook policies, HR
procedures, and internal forms. • Assist with annual compliance
trainings, reporting needs, and regulatory documentation as
required in a banking environment. Employee Relations & Support •
Promote a positive workplace culture and provide guidance to
employees on general HR questions. • Support employee relations
matters, including documentation, coaching support, and follow-up
actions as directed. • Participate in investigations or
disciplinary processes as assigned, ensuring professionalism and
confidentiality. General Administrative Support • Assist in
planning employee engagement activities, recognition programs, and
internal communications. • Support performance review cycles,
training tracking, and HR reporting. • Handle additional duties and
special projects as assigned. Qualifications Qualifications
Preferred Education & Experience • Associate degree or higher in
Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
preferred (or equivalent experience). • Experience in HR, payroll,
administrative support, or a relatable role preferred. • Banking
industry experience is helpful but not required. Skills &
Competencies • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle
confidential information with integrity. • Working knowledge (or
willingness to learn) payroll processes and HR compliance
requirements. • Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for
serving and supporting people. • Ability to communicate clearly and
professionally in writing and verbally. • Proficiency with
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); HRIS/payroll system
experience is a plus. • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet
deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced, regulated
