London and Dallas.OverviewThe AWS Solutions Architect is
responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud-native
environments with a particular focus on high-performance, secure
deployments for real-time applications. You will work closely with
the tech leads, data and software development team, and DevOps
engineers to keep our AWS systems running smoothly, securely, and
in line with financial industry rules and best practices. Please
note this position is on-site. Key Responsibilities
- Set up and manage multiple AWS accounts using tools like
Control Tower and AWS Organizations, making sure everything is
secure, can grow easily, and follows company and industry
rules.
- Establish VPCs with public/private subnets, NAT gateways, and
secure routing for application and database tiers.
- Implement monitoring and alerting using Amazon CloudWatch,
Elastic Beanstalk Health Dashboard, AWS X-Ray, and external tools
like Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace, or Splunk.
- Define infrastructure using Terraform and CloudFormation,
including Beanstalk environments, VPCs, IAM roles, and security
policies.
- Deploy and manage applications on Elastic Beanstalk,
configuring environments for autoscaling, load balancing, and
zero-downtime deployments.
- Configure Route 53 for DNS routing and implement SSL/TLS for
secure traffic encryption.
- Tune applications and AWS resources for memory, CPU,
concurrency, and scaling policies based on traffic patterns.
- Optimize deployments using Application Load Balancers (ALB),
health checks, and rolling updates to ensure high
availability.
- Assist with troubleshooting infrastructure issues, supporting
system upgrades, and ensuring general IT operations run
smoothly.
- Provide support for other IT-related tasks as necessary,
ensuring the technology stack remains reliable and
secure.Professional Experience
- 5+ years in cloud infrastructure roles, with 3+ years of
focused AWS experience.
- Deep understanding of AWS networking (VPCs, subnets, NAT,
security groups, NACLs).
- Experience in building and managing CI/CD pipelines for
automated deployment of applications and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with application load balancing, DNS management,
and traffic routing.
- Hands-on experience deploying and maintaining Elastic Beanstalk
environments with applications.
- Proficiency in Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or
.Education/Certification
- Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science preferred but not
required
- Cloud Technology Certification (such as Solutions Architecture,
Cloud Security Professional or Cloud DevOps Engineering)Travel
